2011 saw ideal weather, but five laps of 8 long sections failed to attract riders.
The sections were initially hailed as “far too tight” but with just a few tweaks everyone was happy. For the Sunday the B route was eased but no one rode it and section 8 was reversed.
The Alton Club riders were absent with only Wing Co Brown holding a thin white line, dealing with the course and paperwork. Just 13 riders from across the entire country turned out to enjoy things this year, only 2 rode both days, leading to the question:

Wales Weekend - the last?
Four years down the road and no one has asked about or shown any interest in another event. The big shame for me is that it faded away rather than went out with a bang.
So after a glorious history of around 35 contiguous years the Wales Weekend seems gone for ever.
