POSSIBLE SCAMMER - Initially vague, then used Googled pic as his own

Uses email  to communicate - not recorded

“Email from Michael Freeb****”

The “deal”: claimed to have specific wanted parts, offered them for sale, no location or other details given. Later claimed to be “wrecking” an entire machine to offer further parts. Sent picture of machine copied from Google. Said his son was also interested in the same parts (time pressure?)

Victim: Wobblie advertiser wanting specific Greeves Pathfinder parts.

Elements: email only contact, no talk of part condition, offered more parts without being asked and pressured for quick sale.

“Email from Ernestine Lawr**** or Ernest. I broke off communications after sensing something was wrong.”

The “deal”: someone claiming to be from Newport News, USA. Seeking advanced high price for specific items. Offered multiple and unusual payment options.

Victim: Wobblie advertiser wanting specific AJS/Matchless parts.

Elements: email only contact, much talk of payment options.

The “deal”: someone claiming from Austria, initials C. B.

Victim: Advertiser in Southampton with a wanted Ad, Gas Gas TXT 125 Trials

Elements: email only contact, only interested in “shipping address”.

Uses text/phone only to communicate - 07*** 507356

“.. He was knowledgeable about the b40gb engine…. I sent the money near the beginning of July…Again I believed him and agreed to send a further £100 ”

The “deal”: someone claiming from Southampton, initials S. J. His refund still awaited.

Victim: long standing advertiser from Isle of Man, items were B40 engines.

Sep 18th: case ongoing.

Elements: phone only contact, money up front, upsold additions, many stories.

“.. sounded genuine so I transferred cash over and waited for the parts.

That was 8 weeks ago and I've heard nothing since…”

The “deal”: someone claiming from Southampton, initials S. J. Halifax bank transfer.

Victim: long standing advertiser from Lincolnshire, items were Whitehawk bike parts.

Sep 12th: case ongoing.

Elements: text only contact, money up front, parts overdue without reason.

The “deal”: taking deposits for new Beta Evo 300. Claimed to be Top UK Trials dealer.

Advert blocked by Wobblie Adverts. Dealer named in scam contacted and warned.
(IP address of advert application was Nigerian and scam flagged)

Get double your money via a UK corporation cheque - it’s a scam

The item was a Bultaco 125. Following emails a cheque arrived drawn on a UK corporation account. The extra money was to be paid back via Western Union.

Luckily the scam was spotted at this point.

Watch out, this one seems all UK based - WATCH IT:

The item was a Bultaco Trials bike for sale in the south coast. Following emails a cheque for double the money was sent drawn on a branch of Barclays in Luton and from a Mr J B**ster trading as a clinic. Bike and excess money passed to courier, cheque bounces.

This was in response to an advert for a Gas Gas, Sherco or Beta Trials bike. The message is classic scam, the address is real but that means nothing (Would you put your full address in your first response to an advert?).

This guy contacted me the day after you ran my wanted advert late last week for an Ossa Gripper. Looks very similar to previous scammer. This is his scam:
