The Wick Hill Cup Trial was introduced in the 1970s’ as a proper Open to Centre Trial held at a great venue but focusing on Novice and Beginner riders.
The Geoff Monk Trial was started in 2001 to be run as a supporting event to Farnham Club’s Phil Mellers Trial. This year it was run in conjunction with the Wick Hill Cup.

Rain threatened to take charge of the 2008 Wick Hill Cup and Geoff Monk Classic Trial,

but quick realignment of the sections and sterling efforts by many riders

meant the event overcame natures worst.

Many thanks to Mike Hutchings (secretary), Terry Owens (Clerk), Jim Daffin (assistant clerk), Harry Flanagan (back marker) and the observers (listed in the scores)

the extreme English summer weather posed a problem that some overcame better than others.

On the left of the picture is Jim Daffin with his muddied score card meanwhile Tom Morling finished the event with his card “clean to the finish”.
